Xaver took a photography class this Spring at the local community college and has been practicing his skills wherever we go. The High Desert has some amazing sunsets so a few months ago, when we were at my sister's house, Xaver was able to catch a fabulous sunset on camera, which he then processed using the skills in his class. A few weeks later, my sister announced to us that she was moving to Northern California and was putting her house on the market. We grew up here in the High Desert and there are lots of great memories she made in her home with family and friends. When CanvasPop approached me about creating a custom framed print from my own photos or art, I knew I had to create a framed print of this photo to give to my sister as a present to always remember her So Cal home by.
The process of ordering on CanvasPop is really easy.
The CanvasPop site walks you through choosing a size for your canvas, a frame, matting or no matting and more. The trick is making sure that your image is sized properly. Xaver had first sent me a small image – since we had ordered a larger print, 16×20, the image quality is really key because a small or low quality image can look pixelated when enlarged. The staff at CanvasPop were super nice and helped us with finding the right image size. I placed the order and the framed print arrived within about a week. The print was framed beautifully and wrapped securely in bubble wrap and an inner and an outer box. I saved the packaging so my sister can use it to repack the print when she moves. I am super pleased with the crisp print quality and vibrant color in the print we received! The picture really pops off the wall with color and is gorgeous to look at. I know my sister will always remember her time in the desert no matter where her travels take her in the future.
We gifted the framed print to my sister's family and they loved it! I almost didn't give it to her after I saw how cool it looked on my mantle. Shhh! Don't tell her! I can just order a second one on CanvasPop for my house – and that is pretty cool! After I gave the print to them, my brother-in-law and nephew went outside and held up the print in the same place where Xaver had taken the photo a few months earlier.
Isn't it crazy when a photo looks better than the real thing?
My sister was asleep, because she works the night shift so my Brother-In-Law and nephew held up the print. My Brother-In-Law's shirt looks funny because his shoulder was broken in May and he can't put his arm into his shirtsleeve … for now. He is recovering slowly – thank you to everyone who prayed and helped out during this time.
This print makes a fabulous gift for life events like weddings, housewarmings, new babies, and even moving. I feel like this gift is kind of like a reverse housewarming gift, since it is about leaving this house and going to make a new life somewhere else. Having a photo we took, printed and framed is like giving her a piece of us as well as a pretty home decor piece. I'd order from CanvasPop again because I am impressed with the ease of the service and the quality of the product. I'd also love to see some of the kids' art framed as a CanvasPop print.
